Thresholds is an exhibition that allows us to consider the purpose of a place like Chichester Cathedral as a space to reflect and discuss the possibilities of the encounter that we might find when we cross over a threshold.
Diane Maclean’s sculptures encapsulate the idea of liminality, a space between, a period of transition and a moving beyond. She creates sanctuaries and paths that lead us to reflect on this architectural space and what churches present in today’s world.
Her sculptures are a response to a place, a theme or an idea. Working on a scale commensurate with the setting, she combines reflective surfaces and open structures to create strong visual connections to the context of the surroundings.
Curated by Jacquiline Cresswell.
To be opened by Clare Burnett, President of the Royal Society of Sculptors on 22nd June at 6.30pm
