I explore into my sculptural work the relationship between elastic fabrics (non-rigid moulds) and heavy materials (plaster). The shape my pieces take is to a great extent.
The technique used to hang the elastic moulds allows the containment of those forms while they are pushed to the limit by the weight of the material poured into them.

The fabric mould, hung from a frame, is subjected to the forces of gravity as well as the inner tensions of the fabric itself and the restraining straps while it is gradually filled. Rather similar to the way a body fills its skin.

The tension this process gives body to is interesting in its dynamics, its exaggerated volume, in the very feeling that the fabric is about to burst through the combined effects of weight and gravity.
